"Through the Looking Glass" is the nineteenth episode of the fifth season of Blue Bloods.

Synopsis

In Brownsville a homeless man sleeping on a bench dies after being set on fire, a crime that an overzealous reporter exacerbates by making derogatory tweets about in regards to the NYPD’s patrolling of the area. Frank meets with her in an attempt to smooth things over, but nothing changes. When the reporter, Anne Farrell interviews one of the men responsible, Erin takes her to court in an effort to get his name.

Meanwhile, Danny and Baez are ordered to take a young woman on a ride-along in an effort to straighten her out. The program, Rescue Ride, is strongly endorsed by their Lieutenant, Dee Ann Carver but Danny doubts its effectiveness as the young woman, Charelle, refuses to listen to Danny’s instructions and ends up viewing a murder scene.

Elsewhere, Erin looks into a cold case that is the murder of Alex McBride’s mother some twenty years ago. The further she gets into it, the more it puts her at odds with McBride who doesn’t want the case reopened.
